About-Paris 2: Charles de Gaulle & Orly airports

Paris has two airports,  Roissy Charles de Gaulle (CDG) to the north and Orly (ORY) to the south.  If you arrive in Paris by air, public transport will get you quickly and cheaply into central Paris. Unless you can squeeze five passengers into a taxi, it will certainly be cheaper.

1. Paris CDG - Charles de Gaulle Airport (Roissy) :

Essential info:  Hotels Trains Buses
Taxis Disneyland Transit CDG - ORY

Plan of Paris CDG airportRoissy - Charles de Gaulle airport (CDG) is the main international airport for Paris, and the second busiest airport in Europe after London Heathrow. The two main terminals are Terminal 1, used by most foreign airlines, and Terminal 2, used by Air France, its partners, and some other European flights including Easyjet.

►Hotels  at CDG Charles de Gaulle airport:

There are several hotels located on and around each Paris airport. At CDG, these include the convieniently situated Hilton hotel, (H) the *** Novotel hotel (N)  and ** Ibis hotel (I) located at the heart of the airport in the Roissypole area between the two terminals, and the Paris Airport Sheraton hotel (S) which is right in Terminal 2, above the TGV and RER station.
You may also like the Courtyard by Marriott,  a modern hotel set in 5 acres of grounds just outside the airport perimeter, with  free shuttle. Or try the Herbes Folles hotel, a **** hotel in a quiet location 2 miles from the terminals, built round an old stone building with a lovely garden .

Transport to/from/at CDG  Airport

Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport is linked to central Paris by airport buses, ordinary buses, taxis and the RER rail link to the city centre.

IMPORTANT - read this first

Paris urban / suburban transport is now paperless. To use it you need to have a "Navigo" card, which can either be a plastic card, or an app on your phone. You can buy a plastic Navigo card (cost 2€) at the ticket office, when you buy your first ticket, or load it onto your phone (free) in advance.   For iPhones, see Bonjour RATP on the App store; for Android, find  Île-de-France Mobilités .

For a simple journey into Paris, or across to Orly, or right to Disneyland, you should buy the Airport connection ticket, (officially Paris Région <> Aéroports) which costs 14 €.... but.....

In and out of Paris for a few days....

Don't buy an airport connection ticket, buy a Navigo Weekly Pass (€32.40  valid for a calendar week, i.e. Mon to Sun), which will give you a week's travel by metro and tram all over Paris, plus your return trip to the airport. .... (which means that you get up to a week's travel in and around Paris for 4.40 €!)  Note that the Navigo weekly pass includes airport connections; the daily pass (cost 12.30 €) does not, so if vising for a weekend, and leaving Monday you'd need two weekly passes.

Train to central Paris : the RER:

The RER is the Paris urban transit rail system: it has two stations at Charles de Gaulle airport, one called "Terminal 1" which is actually between the terminals; the other under Terminal 2.

Cost of a ticket to central Paris:14.00 €uros (Jan 2026). Tickets can be bought at the station either from a ticket booth or from a machine. The journey is included in Paris Visite passe.  An RER Airport-Paris ticket includes connections to any station on the Paris rail system - including Disneyland and Orly; you will often  need to change at Gare du Nord or Chatelet les Halles.

Taking the RER - a TIP -

Passengers arriving at Charles de Gaulle: do not take the slow trains that stop at all or most stations into central Paris. Check on the departure board over the platform. Slow trains are slow, and fill up at all the stations in the northern suburbs - among the less desirable of Paris suburban areas. So wait for a fast train (one out of two for much of the day); you may wait ten minutes longer, but you'll reach Gare du Nord only about 2 minutes behind the slower train. Fast trains are often non-stop to Gare du Nord, others have one or two intermediate stops only. Once into central Paris, fast trains stop at all stations. You will probably need to change once in central paris; your ticket will take you through to any central destination.
On your way in to Paris, note the futuristic "Stade de France" (French national football stadium) on your right as you pass St. Denis.

Trains to the rest of France: TGV

Useful info: the Paris CDG train-station is served by TGV high-speed trains linking directly with most French cities: Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Besançon, Dijon, Tours etc.... Check times! This is far easier than taking the RER into Paris, then carting your luggage through to a mainline train terminus.  Click here for TGV times and prices  . Key in Roissy as your departure station.

► Trains from and to ORLY airport

(For essential info about tickets, go back here)

Train central Paris - Orly : the RER:

The RER is the Paris urban transit rail system: it does not run right into Orly airport, but the RER B line  is reached by a light-rail connection, the Orlyval at the interchange at Antony.
If you land at Orly, Orlyval trains will take you directly in 8 minutes to the RER station at Antony, where you connect to RER line B for a direct and rapid train journey into central Paris (or on to CDG airport ). There is no main-line railway station at Orly.

Orly to CDG (Charles de Gaulle Airport): An adult ticket, including the Orlyval connection at Antony, costs €14.00 (2026).

Important: The Orlyval is now included in the unified "Paris Region <> Airports" fare. This ticket can be loaded onto a Navigo Easy pass or purchased via smartphone. Standard single-journey metro tickets (Ticket T+) are not valid for the Orlyval or for any travel to the airports.

Alternatively: take the M14 metro line directly from the airport. Cost 14 € to anywhere in the Paris rail / metro network.
