Stages
14 (blue) and 15 (red) - from Pau tothe Plateau de Beille
The
Pyrenees
are an annual fixture on the route of
the Tour de France, and have been so since the very beginning.
In 2024, the first day in the Pyrenees,
stage 14 on Saturday 13th July,
includes the classic
ascent of the
Col du
Tourmalet (2115 metres above sea level), then
another climb to the Hourquette d'Ancizan, followed by a climb to the
finish at Saint Lary Soulan.
The second day,
stage 15 on Sunday 14th July,
Bastille Day, is further to the east,
takes riders from Loudenvielle to the
Plateau de Beille. The finish at
1780 metres is just the icing on the cake, or the final sweat, of the
day of climbs that takes in the
Col de Peyresourde (1569 metres), the
Col de Menté (1349 metres), the
Col du Portet d'Aspet (1069 metres),
and the
Col d'Agnès at 1570 metres.
